Step 1: Login to your VPS<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Locate the\u00a0IP address<\/strong>\u00a0of your AKLWEB Host VPS and login as the\u00a0root<\/strong>\u00a0user.<\/p>\n

ssh\u00a0root@server<\/code><\/p>\n

Step 2: Use the hostname utility<\/h3>\n

Change\u00a0your hostname<\/strong>\u00a0to a different name of your choosing.\u00a0For example:<\/strong><\/p>\n

hostname server01<\/code><\/p>\n

Step 3: Edit<\/strong>\u00a0\/etc\/hosts<\/code><\/h3>\n

Open the\u00a0\/etc\/hosts<\/code>\u00a0file with your\u00a0favorite text editor<\/strong>. For example:<\/p>\n

nano \/etc\/hosts<\/code><\/p>\n

Change the\u00a0first line and replace your old hostname<\/strong>\u00a0with the new one. Save the file and exit the editor.<\/p>\n

Step 4: Edit<\/strong>\u00a0\/etc\/sysconfig\/network<\/code><\/h3>\n

This file also\u00a0contains your hostname<\/strong>. Open the\u00a0\/etc\/sysconfig\/network<\/code>\u00a0file with your favorite text editor.<\/p>\n

Change\u00a0HOSTNAME=akl-web-host<\/code>\u00a0to your desired hostname. For example:\u00a0HOSTNAME=server01<\/code>.<\/p>\n

Step 5: Check your hostname<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Run the\u00a0following command<\/strong>\u00a0to check your new hostname:<\/p>\n

hostname<\/code><\/p>\n
