ZPanel, a popular web hosting control panel<\/strong>\u00a0was forked in\u00a02014<\/strong>\u00a0to a new project called\u00a0Sentora<\/strong>. The Sentora team includes authors from\u00a0ZPanel<\/strong>. Sentora is a free control panel, which can be used as an alternative for paid control panels such as\u00a0DirectAdmin and cPanel<\/strong>. Sentora is a great option when you want to easily manage your websites, but don’t want to pay for an advanced control panel.<\/p>\n

In this tutorial, we will be installing Sentora. It is easy to install – just follow this guide.<\/p>\n

The tutorial assumes a fresh installation of CentOS 6 x64 (no Apache, PHP, etc…).<\/strong><\/p>\n

Step 1: Setting your domain name DNS<\/strong><\/h3>\n

You will need a domain name.\u00a0You can’t use Sentora without a domain name<\/strong>. You have to set the DNS of your domain name to point to your server with an A record. You will need a DNS server. Many domain name registrars provide free nameservers with domain names.<\/p>\n

You will need to set an A record that points to your VPS<\/strong>, and one sub-domain for the Sentora panel. For example,\u00a0“cp.example.com”<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Step 2: Updating all software<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Before we install Sentora, we need to be sure that we have the newest version of all software installed on our server.\u00a0Update everything with yum.<\/strong><\/p>\n

yum update -y\r\n<\/code><\/pre>\n
This will\u00a0update all software installed on your server.<\/strong>\u00a0If you get no errors, we can continue and install Sentora.<\/p>\n
Step 3: Downloading the Sentora installer<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Make sure you’re logged in as the root user. If you’re not, then you can’t install Sentora. Login as the root user.<\/p>\n
Install wget. You can install it with yum:<\/strong><\/p>\n
yum install wget -y\r\n<\/code><\/pre>\n
Enter the home directory of the root user:<\/strong><\/p>\n
cd\r\n<\/code><\/pre>\n
Download the installer:<\/strong><\/p>\n
wget http:\/\/sentora.org\/install\r\n<\/code><\/pre>\n
Make sure you can execute the install script:<\/strong><\/p>\n
chmod +x install\r\n<\/code><\/pre>\n
Run the installer:<\/strong><\/p>\n
.\/install\r\n<\/code><\/pre>\n
Step 4: Installing Sentora<\/strong><\/h3>\n
The installer is now running. You will now need to follow the steps from the installer; these are quite obvious. After entering the correct information, continue with Step 5.<\/p>\n
Step 5: Logging in<\/strong><\/h3>\n
You will now need to know the login details of your Sentora install. You can find them in the\u00a0passwords.txt<\/code>\u00a0file, which is generated in the root home directory.<\/p>\n
