This article walks you through setting up OpenBSD 5.5 (64-bit) on KVM with a AKLWEB HOST VPS.<\/p>\n

Step 1.<\/strong> Login to the AKLWEB HOST control panel.<\/p>\n

Step 2.<\/strong>\u00a0Click the “DEPLOY” tab.<\/p>\n

Step 3.<\/strong>\u00a0Choose server type and location.<\/p>\n

Step 4.<\/strong>\u00a0Choose “Custom (ISO)” from the “64-bit” tab.<\/p>\n

Step 5.<\/strong>\u00a0You will need to provide an ISO image for the “Virtual ISO” section. Provide the path to the ISO from an “official” source, or with a mirror of your own. Examples:<\/p>\n

After your file has been uploaded, a checksum will be calculated. In this case the checksum calculated is an MD5.<\/p>\n
Step 6.<\/strong>\u00a0Select your OpenBSD ISO image from the dropdown list (after your ISO has finished uploading). Choose\u00a0install55.iso<\/code>\u00a0from the dropdown list.<\/p>\n
Step 7.<\/strong>\u00a0Choose your desired server size (and associated cost). Then pick any optional features, such as IPv6.<\/p>\n
Step 8.<\/strong>\u00a0Place your order. Once your VPS is ready, the status will indicate “Running”.\u00a0Note:<\/strong>\u00a0up to this point, we have not installed OpenBSD. We simply have booted the CD ISO.<\/p>\n
Step 9.<\/strong>\u00a0Access the VPS by clicking on it, then select the “View Console” button. This will launch an HTML5 VNC-like utility called\u00a0noVNC<\/code>. You may need to disable your pop-up blocker for\u00a0aklwebhost.com<\/code>.<\/p>\n
Step 10.<\/strong>\u00a0When the console opens, you are presented with the OpenBSD installation shell prompt. The options available are:<\/p>\n
(I)nstall, (U)pgrade, (A)utoinstall, or (S)hell\r\n<\/code><\/pre>\n
Proceed with your installation type of choice.<\/p>\n
Note:<\/strong>\u00a0noVNC has known to be touchy. When you press the [ENTER] key as your install progresses, just do so lightly and quickly or it may repeat.
